Fire Fighting News revealed by Arabian Business Publishing Ltd told of how the Dubai Civil Defence plans to enhance the fire safety risk of all buildings in the UAE – not just in Dubai – to establish fireproof properties in the aftermath of The Address Downtown hotel fire on New Year’s Eve. A blaze engulfed the 63-storey building; luckily, no-one was seriously injured as a result of the Dubai fire on December 31. Dark smoke poured from the building as the fire spread quickly up the exterior of the building, as Sarah Townsend, Chief reporter at Arabian Business, a news magazine based in Dubai, posted online.
No one was sure how the fire started, an investigation is ongoing, but the hotel guests and employees were safely evacuated, said a spokeswoman of The Address. Meanwhile, public safety officials continue to discuss the best way to prepare and respond to such events that will enhance fire and life-safety initiatives in the region.
The hotel incident reminds how important it is for technicians servicing firefighting equipment to service equipment and safety systems. Such skilled workers can assess a working environment to determine if it is safe. They can assist with a Fire Safety Management Solutions Plan.
Lt. Col. Jamal Ahmed Ibrahim, director of preventive safety at DCD said, “Of course, different buildings require different solutions; one solution will not suit all.” What this means is a need for fire alarm & firefighting system and fire pump fixing … to be maintained by qualified technicians.”
